I’m so excited!

We’re going to the Strasbourg Christmas markets this year! For the last 2 years I’ve been harping on about wanting to go but we just never got our butts in gear to organise it.

The Christmas markets in Strasbourg are so huge that they even have their own website!

I have this image of a little fairytale city with lights strung up everywhere, streets lined with colourful little stalls, the whole scene brightly lit for Christmas. I can see us arm-in-arm wandering aimlessly down the empty wintry streets with fairy Christmas lights twinkling in the night, all bundled up in our warm coats and scarves, our footsteps echoing through the night. (the fairy thing is a big theme here – too many children’s books at too young an age I think!).

Anyway, this year, seeing as we’ve decided to leave France, we made a quick last minute booking. We didn’t realise how popular it is and everything has been booked out months in advance. Still, we were lucky and managed to find a dingy hotel in the rough vicinity of Strasbourg for the weekend before Christmas!

However, I have a feeling that instead of some magical fairy wonderland, it’s going to be more like us pushing and elbowing our way through crowds and crowds of people.
Now all we have to do is make sure we have our warm coats and scarves elbow guards ready, and count down the days!
