T’was the evening before the day before Christmas (Part I)…

…and all the dimly lit streets and the grotty metro stations were silent…except for the mad rush of last minute Christmas shoppers jostling and elbowing innocent commuters out of the way.

On the way home from work today during the usual rush hour, the metro was nearly empty…until we got to the shopping district stations where huge crowds congregated on platforms ready to pounce into the carriages. I think that half of Paris has left the city to spend Christmas in cosy family homes in provincial France, and the other half has headed for the department stores for a spot of last minute shopping.

If you don’t have the perfect present by now, you’re never going to find it!
